Available for auction is a set of NOS date-coded 2005 18" Porsche Speedline two-piece wheels. The seller purchased the wheels back in 2005 and has stored them in a temperature-controlled space ever since. The seller states the wheels were only briefly mounted on his car, without tires and only hand tightened lugs for a visual inspection. All four wheels are date-coded to December 2005 when they were originally purchased.
These Porsche Speedline wheels were made for the Porsche 964 3.6 Turbo but the seller notes that they would also fit the earlier 3.3 Turbos. Constructed with an alloy center securely bolted to a finished barrel, each wheel showcases offset, sizing, and Speedline etchings on its outer rim. The wheels feature Porsche part numbers and production date stamps for 2005 on all four wheels.
Please verify fitment on your intended application before bidding. Finding a brand-new set of Speedline’s with matching 2005 date stamps is nearly impossible, so don’t miss your opportunity to complete your period-correct look. When I bring a new Porsche into my collection, one of the very first things I do before I purchase it is pull the wheels. If the car is immaculate, but it has a mixed set of date code wheels that tells me something has probably happened.
Maybe the last owner took the wheels off and replaced them with something else, or maybe the car was damaged.
With these early air cooled cars, I believe it’s not worth cutting corners on making things original again. We are simply the current caretaker of our collection and down the road if we decide to let something go, we know it was done correctly and it should bring a better price.

@daspence76 The speedline 3.6 wheels have been produced in three separate generations. My set are all correctly date coded from almost 20 years ago and from the generation one series. Then the wheels were released by Porsche when there was a need about a decade ago, but the finish changed, those are the generation two wheels. Now the current wheels are generation three. The finish is slightly different as is the use of blue green Loctite (or a similar type agent).
My wheels are for somebody that understands and appreciates the small differences of an original set of wheels. Trying to find a matched set of generation one, new old stock wheels is basically impossible.
While the new wheels are available on order, you’re obviously paying sales tax ,waiting and ending up with wheels that are basically correct but not truly historically correct. They would probably have 2023 date codes.

@Gt3ralf Hello, I have seen these wheels on 964's, 993's and 996's. About ten comments down I explained ET (offset) and what needs to be done. On my 993 twin turbo, I even run TUV spacers. It all comes down to how you like you Porsche to sit and where you want the outside lip of the wheel to line up.

An interesting detail that I wanted to mention was the finish on the barrels. In 2005 (this is a factory complete set all built in December of 2005) Speedline changed their finish slightly. The 10" barrels were later production and the 8" barrels were an earlier production. To be clear these have never been taken apart, it was just how Speedline worked 20 years ago.
Speedline takes the parts they have on the shelf to finish the wheels. Unlike the 1997 set that I just sold, Speedline stopped hand stamping with a punch on both the outer and inner (inside of wheel) with build dates. By 2005 they went to the standard year and month code. In this case "2005" and 12 dots in all open squares showing the month of December.
This is more of just an interesting little fact and you can compare the "line finish" of the 8" wheel up against the RS wheels that were new in box that I just sold. 8" wheels were the majority of the build because the vast majority of wheels were 8's and 9's or 8's and 10's (RS, Turbo 3.3, Turbo 3.6, and all others).
All of the blue/green loctite is from factory and matches all 4 wheels. Again, they have never been taken apart. They have just set in my private office next to a couple Ducati's and fun Porsche parts.

@brsherry Hello, I have seen these on a 996 before. They were real, I was curious so I walked over to take a look. I did not look for spacers but the set on the car were staggered like these. The best thing to do is check your ET.

@Cherche-pepite I would be more than happy to ship these wheels anywhere in the world but of course you will need to pay the shipping and insurance.
The front wheels are 25.8 pounds each and the rear wheels are 26.4 pounds each. I would conservatively add 7 pounds for each package for the cardboard and padding.
As for the fitment, I’m going to send over a link that I found that will hopefully help you. I certainly want to make sure that the high bidder is happy with both the wheels and the fitment so I don’t want to over promise.

@brsherry If the ET (offset) is the same you will be just fine. Spacers can always be used, I would always recommend TUV approved spacers. The rule tends to be that you need 7.5/8 full turns of your wheel bolt. If you add a spacer, double check to see how many full turns you have. In Europe, this is also checked on TUV for current registration. This is also checked if you decide to do rally events with your Porsche (or other car).
Porsche bolts or lugs can be found quite easily in pretty much any size. Elephant racing is a great company to work with (I am not connected with their business, I only buy from them).

I have quite a few additional photos I will be uploading. The first set are the “Speedline for Porsche” markings on all four wheels. They are absolutely perfect lips because these wheels have never been refinished or disassembled.
You will also see the ET (offset) and the wheel width on both sides of the valve stems.

Do you happen to know if these wheels will fit on a narrow body 996.1? Wheel specs seem to indicate so, but have not seen it done.

@tfroeh8 Hello, may I ask if your 964 is a narrow body or a wide body? They fit perfect on a wide body, most people including myself still use a TUV approved spacer to bring them out to the exterior fender lip. Most 964 C2's are narrow but there were quite a few models that were not. Let me know and I will try to give you my best opinion. Thank you, Christopher

Thank you to everybody viewing my auction on these “new old stock” 3.6 turbo wheels.
Almost 20 years ago I was down at Andial (that became Porsche motorsports) talking about my 964 roadster. Being that the roadster’s are a widebody, I believe it was Dieter who recommended moving to the 3.6 turbo speedline wheels if I was looking for a change. While these wheels did not come directly from Andial’s inventory, they did come from their contact at Porsche as a favor.
Right around that same time Andial closed and I be became less involved in the Porsche world.
We put the car in the air at another local Porsche shop a few years later and removed the factory Cup 1 wheels that date match the vehicle and lightly hand bolted these in place. Obviously, they did not have tires and the suspension was all the way hanging down but I wanted to get an idea if that’s what I wanted to do. Long story short I had already purchased the wheels and I thought somewhere down the road I will put them on. It’s now almost 2024 and they have been boxed up ever since.
If you’re looking for the first generation release of these wheels, because they became obsolete and unavailable later (re-released under the Porsche classic program for the gen two wheels), this is the only known date code matched set for sale.
