Now available is this 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo finished in Guards Red over a lightweight racing interior.  Outfitted with safety equipment and extensive performance upgrades including Moton coilovers, custom headers, a stage 2 clutch and flywheel and a standalone ECU with electronic boost control, this Turbo has been optimized for high-performance track use while still remaining street legal.  Offered with 3 binders full of service records, an extra set of 18” 911 wheels and its very own trailer, this 944 is now being offered for sale by its seller in Florida with approximately 131k miles on the odometer on a branded title.

The Guards Red finish is said to remain in good condition with a few dents in the hood and some road-going wear throughout the body.  The lower rocker panel on the passenger side is said to have been professionally refinished in the current ownership (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  This 1986 example features a revised front bumper and a body-colored rear diffuser which helps to distinguish this Turbo from a standard 944.  OEM 17” Porsche alloy 5-spoke wheels are currently equipped and dressed in Firestone Indy 500 tires, although an extra set of 18” Porsche 911 wheels will be included in sale as well.

Inside, the black interior has been partially stripped out for weight savings and outfitted with safety equipment including a fire suppression system and Corbeau racing seats on sliders with 6- and 5-point harnesses.  Other modifications include a quick-disconnect steering wheel, a Race-Keeper video logging system, a Dell computer with software and a Lenovo digital engine dashboard.

This 944 carries a turbocharged 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine which is rated at 220 HP stock.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission with an upgraded stage 2 clutch and flywheel.  The following upgrades have also been installed allowing for a claimed output of 305 WHP at 10psi:

  • Moton remote reservoir adjustable coilovers
  • AutoPower roll bar
  • MAF Conversion
  • Custom polished slip fit Headers
  • 4-Inch Lyndsey Magnaflow exhaust
  • 6-inch resonator
  • Big Brake upgrade
  • Fuel lines
  • Strut brace
  • Wasted spark system
  • Stage 2 clutch and flywheel
  • VEMS standalone ECU w/ electronic boost control
  • Flex fuel conversion for E85 (Installed but not yet connected)
  • High flow fuel pump
  • New Bosch starter

A Dyno sheet is available in the photo gallery.

Noteworthy recent service items also include a new master brake and clutch slave cylinder, a rebuilt transaxle and complete hydraulic fluid flush.  This 944 is reported to be highly competitive and in excellent running order for its next owner.

The sale of this 944 will include a trailer, 3 binders worth of service records, the original front bumper, rear seats, ECU and headlights assemblies, extra wheels, trailer and an assortment of spare parts.  If you’re an enthusiast looking to get out on the track in a vintage Porsche, this 944 Turbo makes the perfect choice.

@sa45usa, first off GLWA. Looking forward to the showdown in a couple hours. I believe you mentioned having a track video, but hadn't posted such. Will that be made available prior to the end of auction? Looks like a lot of fun and a great track ready toy.

Reference to the Trailer if you wanted tomorice in its value. It has a 9000 lbs wench and tires are brand new and the Spare is in great shape. You can expect to get $1500 - $2000 potentially depending on your local market. Minor rust and it comes with battery. It’s also has electric brakes.

    @WarBonnetPres you are welcome.

@sa45usa Very good and quick reply. Thanks for the clarity on the lights.

@WarBonnetPres - I did not own the car and was converted by an Atlanta shop. There is no backing on any surface that is exposed. I can’t speak to any other surface. As for street legal it is fully legal in the state of Florida and was inspected and tagged. As for any other states I can’t speak to that. So let’s call it street legal pending your inspection specific to your state. You get the pop up lights to make it legal if the state requires it. Let’s get thru this auction and see what happens. I will consult with my rep at PCARMARKET. If you don’t need the trailer you can sell it as it will sell fast.

Nicely done interior. Was it repainted inside because normally you can't get all the adhesive and backing off the floorpan or tunnel? Btw, I don't think its accurate to say its fully street legal without headlights though youre providing them in the parts list. Would you consider dropping the reserve and keeping the trailer to make this branded title, racecar more affordable? Thanks

@sa45usa thank you for that info.

I can’t stress enough what a bullet this baby is. If you want video on the track I can send to you. You will also see how little head room I have and can see why I need to sell.

@Admz911 - you also have the option of putting the pop up headlight back on. Everything comes with sales to be able to do that.

  • sa45usa (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

    @Admz911 - Yes it is.

  • Admz911 (registered bidder) 3 years, 7 monthsago

Is the car in its current state totally street legal?

  • sa45usa (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

    Thanks Motionsclassics for your bid.

  • sa45usa (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

Just a heads up the windshield has a crack and I will be replacing it prior to delivery. I have also put new shocks in the hood and rear hatch. They work perfect now.

Welcome to my auction. I have had this car for about a year. The only reason I am selling is because I am 6’9” and with a helmet I have no headroom. I have to crack the sunroof to get at least 3 inches of clearance. I have spend good money (3 Binders) to get this car to where you should not have issues. Please feel free to ask an questions.

    Happy Bidding.

    Sincerely Mark
