Available for auction is a large double-sided illuminated Gulf gas station sign thought to be from the 1960s or 1970s. Originally designed to sit atop a pole, the sign was produced by the manufacturer Dualite for gas stations. The impressive sign measures approximately 76” inches in width, and 73” inches in height, with a depth of 10” inches and weighs 275 pounds. The double-sided sign features plexiglas faces with the iconic blue, white, and orange Gulf logo. The sign is constructed of an aluminum and steel frame with mounting bolts on the bottom and shackle mounts on top for hanging.

The seller states the sign is in great condition and has recently undergone a refurbishment. The sign was freshly sanded and painted and the aluminum was polished. The seller notes some external sun bleaching patina on one side and a small crack which has been repaired (see gallery).

The internal sign components are accessed via the sign’s removable faces. The original fluorescent lighting has been upgraded to more energy-efficient LED lights and has been rewired with 110v circuitry. The seller states he will arrange shipping, handling, and crating the sign at buyers expense. The buyer is responsible for shipping, shipping insurance, handling, and transactional fees.

Seller would like you to know: "Originally purchased from the Gulf gas station that was being converted to a Delta in Chester, NJ."

@skl2 If you’d like to make an offer it would certainly be considered.
Comparably the value is correct to the market.
Shipping is not as much as one might think.
A price can be had if you’d like.

So the high bid is <1k and the “deal tank” is 5500? Just a bit of a delta there! Shipping that thing is probably not helping. GLWS.

@Adrenalinsports Yes. Originally it was used on a pole.
It also has a very heavy duty eye bolt at the top for hanging.
All of which are factory. In the gallery there is a picture of the eye bolt as well as the base.

  • Adrenalinsports (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 2 daysago

How does it mount for display? Would it have sat on top of a pole?
