Introduced in 1957, the Maserati 3500 GT became the marque’s first successful entry into the grand touring market. The car showcased Carrozzeria Touring’s alloy bodywork and signature Superleggera construction, as well as a 3.5-liter inline-six derived from the championship-winning Tipo 250F Formula 1 car. In 1962, the model was further developed into the 3500 GTi, featuring increased power output, a 5-speed manual transmission, and revised styling. This 1963 Maserati 3500 GTi is finished in silver over red leather upholstery and was originally built in July 1962 before being delivered new in Milan, Italy, on July 25th of that year. Acquired by the seller from its previous owner in Long Lake, Michigan, this GTi is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
Retaining its predecessor’s Carrozzeria Touring-designed Superleggera coachwork, the GTi variant introduced subtle yet distinctive updates including a slightly longer wheelbase, a lowered roofline, a slimmer chrome grille surround, rectangular front indicators, revised quarter windows, and taillight assemblies with three separate lenses. This example is finished in silver and rides aftermarket Borrani wire-spoke wheels with Pirelli tires from 2012 with 75% tread remaining. The seller notes a small imperfection on the nose, a spot repair was performed on the decklid, and a minor dent repair on the fender was carried out under prior ownership in 2011. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The 2+2 cabin is trimmed in red leather upholstery covering the seats and door panels, contrasted by a black dashboard, instrument panel, and carpeting. A black-finished three-spoke steering wheel fronts Veglia instrumentation with chrome bezels, including a 240-km/h speedometer, 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. Additional interior features include chrome interior door handles, vent windows, toggle switchgear, and a floor-mounted gear selector.
Power is provided by a 3.5-liter inline-six engine, which features Weber carburetors in place of the Lucas fuel injection installed under prior ownership. Derived from the Maserati 350S, the engine features an aluminum block and cylinder head, dual overhead camshafts, hemispherical combustion chambers, mechanical Marelli ignition, dual ignition, and dual fuel pumps. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a ZF 5-speed manual transmission paired with a limited-slip differential. The seller states the muffler has a small hole, resulting in a minor leak.
This sale will include a clean title, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a Viale Ciro Menotti Issue 105 magazine.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a stunning example of the Maserati 3500 GTI. The future owner will very much enjoy this car! It comes with a magazine called Viale Ciro Menotti issue 105 in which this very car was featured.”

Offer in the amount of $140,000
Do you have compression and leak down test results you can share? I’m interested in making an offer but need to know the engine is fine. Also are all mechanical elements, electricals, gauges and controls working as intended and if not what’s not working (e.g., lights, windshield wipers and washers, turn signals, brake lights, etc.) thanks!
Could you please post pictures of the defects mentioned along with a summary of recent maintenance done?
@moezilla. I had tails!!
Nice car. I’ve always wanted one. Market is interesting at this point in time. Good luck.
@moezilla the seller may have a lead to source one if the right circumstances were to fall into place. Thank you
@WilsonCollection thanks - let us know if you can source an "Iniezione" unit and etc.

@moezilla the car is wonderful, and most people run the gti’s with carbs because of how temperamental the Lucas systems are. But I understand your point. But $130k is just too low. If you’re still interested in the car, I’d say put up your best offer, and let’s see if we can come to an agreement.
@moezilla true, although I think the Borrani wire wheels adds a considerable bit of value to the car 😄
too bad about the missing injection - the Webers are really cool but the original injection adds tons of value and is a great part of automotive history
@rockingchairmotors tails never fails!

I've added photos of the paint meter readings per a members request. It is very obvious the car has been fully painted, however this was done before the car came to the collection.
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@Flatplane So I wouldn't say the car was "restored". And by that I mean it didn't to our knowledge go through a full nut and bolt restoration. However that said it is apparent that the previous owner had the entire exterior of the car repainted and it was done very well. The leather was redyed here at the Wilson Collection, and the dash was also repainted here at the Wilson Collection. Which wires were you referring to? I know the decklid wire for the trunk compartment light is a bit long and so it appears its loose however it is connected. The trunk compartment light is not working, it may just be a bulb. The CD which has all the diagrams and manuals for the car was used here at the Wilson collection for reference and repairs.
I hope this helps!
Regards

Do you know when the car was restored? Was the interior done at the same time? I see a few wires hanging down, do all the electrical bits work? Also, I saw a CD in the photos, is that from the restoration?
