The third-generation Corvette debuted in 1969 with an unmistakable design inspired by the Mako Shark II concept. This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is powered by a 327ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and finished in black over matching upholstery. Acquired by the current owner in the mid-2000s, it underwent a restoration completed in 2008, which included the installation of four-wheel drilled and slotted disc brakes, 15″ Ansen Sprint wheels, and upgraded suspension components. Performance enhancements include Hooker headers, chrome side-exit exhaust pipes, MSD ignition, and more. The transmission was rebuilt with a Hurst shifter added in 2021, and a new clutch was installed in 2024. This well-presented C3 is now being offered for auction by the selling dealer out of New York.
The C3-generation Corvette featured a comprehensive redesign over its predecessor, including a revised front fascia, updated headlight and taillight designs, flush door handles, a T-top roof, and improved aerodynamics with a longer, wider, and heavier body. As part of its refurbishment, this example’s fiberglass body was refinished in black and fitted to a replacement frame reportedly powder-coated in black. Additional updates include a new black soft top, polished side exhaust pipes, and 15” Ansen Sprint slotted wheels mounted with Toyo Extensa radial tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
This Corvette’s cabin was refurbished with black tufted vinyl bucket seats along with matching door panels and carpets. Equipment includes a three-spoke steering wheel, a Hurst shifter, an aftermarket digital stereo unit, and Stingray-branded floor mats. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.
Power comes from a replacement 327ci V8 driving the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission that was resealed and fitted with new second and third gears along with a Hurst shifter in 2021. Upgrades include an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor with an electric choke, Edelbrock valve covers, and an MSD distributor and ignition control module. An aluminum radiator provides cooling with dual electric fans, while Hooker Super Competition headers manage exhaust flow. VBP suspension components include a composite rear spring and adjustable rear links, with braking provided by four-wheel disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors. The selling dealer adds that the clutch was replaced in 2024.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Originally Tuxedo Black with Black Interior, Black Soft Top, 327 V8 Engine, 4-Speed manual gearbox, which has been restored. The owner purchased this Chevrolet Corvette convertible in the mid-2000s, and a subsequent restoration was undertaken. Over the next ten years of this Corvette’s ownership, it was treated to much service, maintenance, upgrades, and further restoration. This included a full repaint, powder-coated frame, a new black soft top, and black tufted vinyl upholstery. Mechanically, it received four-wheel drilled and slotted disc brakes, 15″ Ansen Sprint wheels, uprated suspension springs/shocks/linkages, and the four-speed manual transmission was overhauled in 2021 and updated to include a Hurst shifter. Further work included the supply and installation of hooker headers, chrome side exhaust pipes, Edelbrock intake manifold, MSD distributor and ignition control unit and an aluminum radiator with dual electric cooling fans. A labor of passionate and monetary love has gone into this Corvette's build, resulting in a vehicle that is clearly in wonderful condition throughout and has been mechanically sorted. Not to be missed, this Corvette C3 is complete with its large history file and in ready-to-use condition.”

@jhuntc13, Body mounts were replaced during reno, I uploaded close up pic. All is solid/no play in any bushings, as well as no abnormal noises from bushings/suspension, as you can see from receipts and underside pics as well all is in great condition.

@rbrunson, No AC
Bid in the amount of $18,500
Does it have AC?
@jhuntc13 Good Morning. I can say as I have on a few occasions, this Corvette is exceptional, it has been restored and uprated properly and has absolutely no disappointments at this time. I can say, PCar Market and their office is only a short distance away, I would be happy to have one of their representatives come to inspect on your behalf. Also as mentioned, I will be happy to schedule a time this morning for a FaceTime call if that helps.
As far as expectations, this is an auction so it would be unfair to state asking price or price that we would like to achieve. I can say the current bid is not in the ballpark for this Corvettes purchase-sale, it is worth quite a bit more given its superb condition, that itself can be corroborated-justified with comparable Corvette sales on the web.
Should the Corvette not sell at auction today, it will go into "the Marketplace" on PCar and also be available for sale once again through my dealership. That is about as transparent as I can be. This is an excellent Corvette, something I am happy to attach my name to, a Corvette that will ultimately sell for a fraction of its purchase and restoration cost and hopefully give its next, new owner, home immediate pleasure.
Hope this helps anyone who may be interested.

I can’t tell from the pics, are all the bushings new? Looks like the body ones aren’t. Think they put back on old ones? The wheels, seats, steering wheel etc are nice but personal choice. I’d prefer original just gotta figure it for myself. I like the color, the Reno that they did. Curious on the target for this one?
@jhuntc13 If you would like, we can also schedule a FaceTime call.

It would be nice to see it in person. Probably going to be tough. Your pics are good and the video helped. Thanks Jeff
@jhuntc13 It is truly excellent and exactly as described. The previous owner spend an amazing amount on this Corvette to bring it to this excellent level. The road test video portrays exactly what the next owner will be able to enjoy. I am also welcoming anyone's inspection.
