Initially delivered at Frey-Witmer Pontiac-Buick of Bethel, Ohio, this 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 10th Anniversary Edition is one of just 7,500 produced in total. Exclusively finished in Platinum with Charcoal accents over gray leather, this limited-edition model features mirrored T-top panels, 15” Turbo Air Flow wheels, unique exterior and interior Firebird emblems, red-illuminated gauges, and more. Reportedly showing approximately 1k original miles on the odometer, this exquisitely presented Trans Am is now being offered for auction out of Canada.
Each Firebird Trans Am 10th Anniversary Edition was offered with a Platinum finish accented by Charcoal graphics. Details include red and black pinstripes, a Shaker hood, removable T-top panels, fender vents, quad headlights, front and rear spoilers, and quad exhaust outlets. It rides on silver 15” Turbo Air Flow wheels wrapped in older Uniroyal Steel Belted Radial tires. The seller states that the vehicle was previously barn-stored for some time until being acquired by the prior owner, who carried out comprehensive detailing and restoration of metal components. Inside, the driver is greeted with gray leather upholstery spanning the seats and door panels. Equipment includes aircraft-inspired red-illuminated gauges, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, gray seatbelts, engine-turned dashboard trim, a full-length center console, an eight-track tape player, power windows, and air conditioning. Red trim and Firebird embroidery adorn the door panels. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be in proper working order.
Factory-rated at 185 HP and 320 lb-ft of torque, the 403ci V8 engine features a four-barrel carburetor. The rear wheels are driven through a 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller states that recent service included fluid refreshments, a new exhaust system, a tune-up, and dry-ice underside cleaning. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
