Porsche revived the Super Carrera (SC) designation for the 1978 model year with an updated version of the G-body 911, offering a larger engine with an aluminum crankcase and various design improvements. This 1982 Porsche 911SC Targa is finished in red over black upholstery and equipped with aftermarket 16” BBS wheels. Benefitting from an engine-out service completed in 2021 at a reported cost of approximately $10k, this Targa is being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada with less than 134k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911SC is finished in red with a black Targa bar and removable roof panel. Other equipment includes front fog lights, headlamp washers, a heated glass rear window, impact bumpers, and a Whale Tail rear spoiler. An aftermarket lower front valance has been added, along with 16” two-tone BBS wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires from 2009 and 2010 with plenty of tread remaining. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents black leather and vinyl upholstery along with matching carpets and a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel. Accessories include power windows and mirrors, a quartz clock, a locking glovebox, a Pioneer head unit, and an aftermarket sound system.

An air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 180 HP and 175 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller adds that an engine-out service was performed in 2021 at a cost of approximately $10k, and no outstanding maintenance items have been reported.

This sale will include a Canadian registration.

@pumpe You are very welcome. The first 90% of life was spent outside Canada. Last 4 years only in Canada in a great Stable Full of Porsche 911, in perfectly controlled environment. No rust. If You take 🔎 You ( maybe ) will find some, easy to exfoliate with metal brush; You can apply Würth Gravel Guard, if needed. Preemptive care. Some people do that. Not too crazy about that. Winner’s prerogative.

@AlexBert , thank you for providing the extra info. The paint measurements answer my questions better than I thought. Are there any visual signs of corrosion besides the battery compartment? Being on the east coast and in Canada for its entire life there must be some corrosion. :))

  • AlexBert (seller) 8 hours, 53 minutesago

@tff Yes. Matches the Registration as well. ( Photo #132 ) the ZZZ is normally associated to a car built for the Euro Market. So We probably must come to the conclusion it spent some time outside US before landing in North America.

@tff Upon further review, the VIN on the door jamb photo does match. Seems like the plaque on slide 91 has Z's where information is perhaps unknown or missing at the time that plaque is made.

  • tff (registered bidder) 9 hours, 31 minutesago

@seller... I noticed that slide 91, which seems to show a VIN, does not match the stated VIN in the summary info for the listing. Can this be explained? Thanks.

  • k_creek (registered bidder) 11 hours, 43 minutesago

Rear spoiler is not a "whale tail" but a "tea tray" that would have come from a turbo. The base that sits on the deck lid on this is extended to house an intercooler that a non-turbo car, such as this one, would not have. See "Whale Tail vs. Tea Tray Spoiler" in Pelican forums for details.

    Good evening Alex,
Great looking Targa! Looking at the pictures, the car or parts of it were obviously repainted. What was the original color? Unfortunately, the production label under the hood was removed for the paint job. Do you know why it was repainted? It looks as if there was some work done on the rocker panel and the bodywork on the passenger side. Was there anything else done besides the top end rebuild?
    Thank you!

  • tff (registered bidder) 1 day, 11 hoursago

Nice looking SC targa. I liked the video as well. A few questions for the seller:
-Original or repaint? Thickness measurements? Any paperwork if repainted?
-Is the rear spoiler a Porsche part?
-Carfax indicates a mileage discrepancy and 2021 service doesn't seem to show mileage. Is the mileage true mileage?
-No undercarriage photos. Any available? Any evidence of rust / rust history?
-What are the red switches below the climate controls for?
-Sound insulation above engine is missing - correct?
-The front of the hood looks a bit warped (see slide 24)... comments?
-And finally, besides the fee you noted below, what else does it take to get it back to the U.S.?
A lot of questions here. Thank you!
