Finished in Black over a black interior with grey leather seats, this 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet is the subject of a full Turbo-style body conversion using factory parts from a non-sunroof European-market Carrera 4S donor car. In addition to its widened fenders, retrofitted roof panel, and Turbo-style bodywork, the car features a Turbo S-style fog light inserts, carbon fiber interior trim, an aluminum shift knob, a Kenwood head unit, 18” Avant Garde forged wheels, and a 6-speed manual transaxle paired with its 3.6-liter flat-six engine. Custom-built at a cost of over $124k in 2023, this Turbo-style 993 Carrera is now being offered for auction out of Florida with approximately 165k miles showing on the odometer.

This 993 Carrera was stripped and fitted with wider fenders, bumpers, rockers, and a non-sunroof upper section from a Carrera 4S donor car along with a Turbo-style rear spoiler. Equipment includes projector headlights, headlamp washers, Turbo S-style fog light inserts, clear side markers, heater power mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, and aftermarket 18” Avant Garde forged wheels with new tires measuring 235/40/18 at the front and 315/30/18 at the rear. The seller indicates the bodywork was done without fiberglass and uses all original Porsche parts. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black interior features power-adjustable grey leather seats, a black leather four-spoke steering wheel, a black leather dashboard cover, an aluminum gear knob, and carbon fiber trim on the center console, air vents, dashboard, and door panels. Accessories include power windows and door locks, automatic climate control, cruise control, and an aftermarket Kenwood head unit. The rear seatbacks are missing, and the lower rear seat upholstery is damaged. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional apart from the headlights, which need to be rewired.

A factory-rated output of 272 HP comes from an air-cooled 3.6-liter M64 flat-six engine. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transaxle and stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes and cross-drilled discs at each corner. The seller indicates routine maintenance has been kept up to date and states that a set of 993 Turbo Gemballa brakes will accompany the sale.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a tire inflator, a battery trickle charger, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Up for sale is my 1995 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera, beautifully converted to a C4S widebody and finished as a rare hardtop coupe. This is a standout example of the iconic 993 generation with the design, performance, and legacy of the air-cooled era. This car turns heads everywhere it goes and offers an authentic driving experience that’s getting harder to find. The 993 generation is the last of the air-cooled Porsches, and examples like this one are becoming increasingly rare and desirable - especially with the widebody look and clean hardtop configuration.”

@RumbleAuto Really appreciate the thoughtful take and the compliments on the build. Totally fair that it’s not for everyone… especially for those who prioritize collector grade originality. But this car wasn’t built for the purist or numbers matching crowd. It was built with intention, using quality OEM components, to be a raw and engaging driver, and there are still some touches left to be had.

And honestly, when you think about GuntherWerks or other reimagined, remastered, or “Frankenstein” builds, my point is the sky’s the limit with these cars.. the creativity and possibilities are endless.

The “market has spoken” line doesn’t always tell the full story… auctions come down to timing, exposure, and who’s watching. A build like this tends to resonate with a very specific type of enthusiast, and often sells through the right conversation rather than the biggest stage.

I figured I’d give it a proper shot through the auction format and see who it connected with. At the end of the day, it’s not for everyone, but for the right buyer who understands what went into it, it’s something unique and special. Appreciate the respectful dialogue.

    That's a cool build!

I will constructively disagree that this one won't be worth anytime near 6 figures soon but that is due to the nature of it being a Franken-Porsche, despite being made with great parts. So, the chassis mileage coupled with the fact that it has a VIN from a cabriolet coupled with the fact that it is impersonating a Turbo will always hold this one back a bit. The market isn't normally wrong on these 993s, and has spoken here.

What you need is a hardcore enthusiast for this one, but I sure hope that you find that person. I think it's an amazing looking 993!

  • rklambott (seller) 4 hours, 38 minutesago

@Hangar7 Appreciate the feedback… totally fair. The rear interior could definitely be reupholstered in a more stripped-down, lightweight style, or I have the original coupe panels if someone prefers a more finished look. The headlights are just a minor wiring quirk that’s already being addressed.. all small stuff in the grand scheme.

For those who know, the slicktop conversion and removal of the roof rails is a big update that really sets it apart. The bids so far felt more like attempts to steal it… and while I’m not looking to give the car away, I’m definitely open to discussion with serious buyers.

Once everything’s buttoned up, I think the car really speaks for itself. It’s right in the zone… wouldn’t surprise me to see it bring close to $100K.

  • Hangar7 (registered bidder) 5 hours, 23 minutesago

Everything was looking great until those rear seats... I think with that cleaned up and the headlights working that reserve would look tempting.

@wilhit10 I think the photos might be throwing you off… especially with the lighting and reflections in those angles. If you look closely at the HD quality photos and the walk around videos, you’ll see the paint is actually very good quality and lays down smooth. I don’t see a ‘ton’ of orange peel… maybe a couple small areas, especially around the bumper, that could benefit from a wet sand and buff if someone really wanted to get super picky. But overall, it presents really well, and I honestly wouldn’t mess with it.

  • wilhit10 (registered bidder) 10 hours, 57 minutesago

I see a ton of orange peel in the paint. In the motor and the mirror pictures? Is this correct?

Just to clarify for everyone…. this 993 retains the stock headers, catalytic converters, and intake. There haven’t been any performance modifications that would interfere with emissions, so there shouldn’t be any red flags when it comes to passing CA smog.

  • rklambott (seller) 12 hours, 15 minutesago

@2mAn Appreciate the thoughtful observations….happy to clarify. The two switches in pic 63 are indeed no longer in use, part of some previous setup that was removed during the build. The rear seat area was left simple on purpose… the focus was to redo the back interior with a cleaner, more purposeful look, prioritizing weight savings and function over a ‘factory style’ finish. That said, I do have the original coupe interior pieces as well, which go with the car..

The oil filler location was a temporary workaround due to a damaged neck and pending fabrication.. it was on the list to revise, just never got around to it because I’ve honestly just been enjoying the car as is. It doesn’t affect drivability, and it never really bothered me.

Your 993RS steering and Recaros sound like a killer combo! Would definitely make it your own. Appreciate your honesty, and totally understand the balance between value and what feels right.

  • 2mAn (registered bidder) 12 hours, 36 minutesago

Pic 63 shows two switches that are not used anymore, correct? Looks like back seat area was just thrown together, and I cant understand the oil filler inside, should've just left it where it was... makes me wonder what else there is.

That said, I have a 993RS Steering and some Recaros that would immediately make the car 'mine' and allow me to focus on the things I dont see. Likely expecting to get more than I can afford / think its worth

  • rklambott (seller) 14 hours, 32 minutesago

@Stiritup Yeah, it was definitely on the list, but with the fabricator’s schedule we just didn’t get around to it yet. Honestly, it doesn’t really bother me.. The car’s been running great and I’ve been enjoying it as is, but that detail can be addressed by the next owner if desired.

  • Stiritup 15 hours, 56 minutesago

@rklambott - any reason why it hasn’t been fixed?

  • rklambott (seller) 2 days, 9 hoursago

@nrip5000 Good catch.. it’s due to a faulty sending unit. The gauge spikes all of a sudden, but once you shut the car off and turn it back on, it usually resets. Sometimes it stays where it should too. Actual temps are totally fine, but really appreciate you pointing it out!

  • nrip5000 (registered bidder) 2 days, 10 hoursago

In the video of you driving the oil temp is all the way above the max is there a problem with the gauge or more serious ?

  • rklambott (seller) 2 days, 10 hoursago

@r.motorsports Thanks! Appreciate that… definitely, especially since most of the heavy lifting is already done. The RUF style roof was one of my favorite touches…. And yeah, there’s just something timeless about the 993. Last of the air-cooled, great proportions, and they still feel raw and connected. Hard not to love them!

  • rklambott (seller) 5 days, 2 hoursago

@wilhit10 Thank you for your question. They’re MAXX coilovers. I’m really happy with the setup, the car rides great and feels super planted.

  • wilhit10 (registered bidder) 5 days, 4 hoursago

What brand coil overs are those.

  • rklambott (seller) 5 days, 4 hoursago

@windsurfar Great eye! Yes, the original C4S had a CD title and couldn’t be licensed, so the drivetrain went to someone else’s project. We used the shell since it was in great shape…
You’re absolutely right .. the rain gutters were shaved. It was something I wanted from the start to give it more of that “outlaw” aesthetic. Definitely not for the faint of heart like you said… a ton of labor went into getting that roofline clean. Not a shortcut for the roof install, we did it the hard way!

And yep, those pics were taken mid-build at ART CARS INC. It’s actually a very large facility that spans several acres. The photos might not do it justice.. it’s definitely more of a working shop than a showroom. Think of it like a chef’s kitchen: a little messy, but that’s where the magic happens.

Appreciate the thoughtful questions … hope you throw in a bid!

  • windsurfar (registered bidder) 5 days, 5 hoursago

Ok, thats starting to make sense regarding unable to license the C4S, so somebody bought the engine and transmission I guess. It is a nice looking porsche. Looking closer at the Pics, it looks like the rain gutters have been shaved? SHaving these drip rails is a pain, requiring filling in the space created, not for the faint of heart. I'm guessing that made the roof attachment easier, or did you request the gutters to be shaved? Shaved rain gutters is an interesting look, I believe the urban outlaw himself shaved the rain gutters on his 964 creation. BTW are those pics "in progress" at ART CARS INC? I would have thought looking at their website that it would have... lets say... a little more professional looking work environment.

@Able Thanks for the questions! The oil fill tube was cracked in the middle, so it had to be relocated toward the passenger side. The original plan was to go for a Singer-style filler, but due to the fabricator’s schedule, we just never got around to finishing that detail.

As for the tie rod end, nothing is bent. It’s just the angle of the lift with the wheel sagging down in that photo. If you compare it to pics 102–104, everything checks out straight.

Appreciate you taking a close look and the good wishes.

  • Able (registered bidder) 5 days, 6 hoursago

Why was the oil fill tube relocated from the engine bay to the back seat area? Also in pic 117 you can see that the tie rod end is bent at the threads but it looks straight in pics 102-104. Any idea what is going on there? GLWS

  • rklambott (seller) 5 days, 6 hoursago

@Tinos88 To the best of my knowledge:
    - The rear seat was not modified; it’s pretty similar to that of a coupe.. both are considered “emergency seats” with limited usability. However, the rear could use some upholstery attention.
    - Cabriolets came with additional bracing from the factory, so this build is likely around ~100 pounds +or- heavier than a standard coupe with wide-body panels.
    - Not sure about all the switchgear, but any extra parts left over I didn’t keep after the build was completed.
    - The repaint was professionally done, and the car was originally black.
    - The leather dash is original and carbon trim was already in the car from the previous owner.

Hope that helps - appreciate the interest.

  • Tinos88 (registered bidder) 5 days, 7 hoursago

Oh man…fascinating build. Just when you think you’ve seen everything…couple Q for @seller (pardon me if these are ignorant…I’m a bit more familiar with longhoods than 993s):
    - is the lack of proper rear seat resolution related to the fact it was a cab?

-did cabs have more stiffening/bracing in chassis than coupes (ie should we expect this to be heavier than a wide body 993c2s?

-any leftover switchgear in cabin specific to cabs (ie rocker switch for top operation, etc)

-how is quality of repaint? Assuming car was originally black?

Is leather on dash and carbon trim OG or aftermarket?
    Thanks and GLWTS.

@Carguy19 Appreciate the comment… but just to clarify, Hagerty doesn’t just let you pick a number out of thin air. The value has to be agreed upon through their own underwriting and appraisal process. It’s not like I could say it’s worth $1 million and they’d blindly accept it. Sharing that policy helps build confidence with bidders, knowing the car was properly insured and valued by a reputable classic car insurer. Totally get the distinction you’re making though.. thanks for the thoughtful input!

  • Carguy19 5 days, 10 hoursago

I’m a little bit confused as to why the owner/seller posted the insurance stated value policy deck page and labeled it “Hagerty valuation”. It’s a little misleading , that form shows what the owner has elected to have his car insured for by his own opinion and election, not what Hagery thinks the car is worth. There is a valuation tool that can be used on the Hagerty site, but my guess is that your auction is going to far exceed their valuation for a 1995 narrow body car. Good luck w the auction/sale.

  • rklambott (seller) 5 days, 10 hoursago

@windsurfar Totally get where you’re coming from! Just to clarify… the donor vehicle was a CD title and couldn’t be legally put back on the road, but the shell and panels were in good shape, so we gave it a new life using the best from both. Definitely an unorthodox build, but it turned out amazing. Appreciate the comment!

  • windsurfar (registered bidder) 5 days, 11 hoursago

Im trying to wrap my brain around this story. You pay 120K in cash, to rip panels and roof off an authentic C4S slicktop, to make a cab into what the C4S already was? Wow. Just my 2 cents.

  • rklambott (seller) 5 days, 12 hoursago

@windsurfar Thanks for the interest! I asked the moderator share and they just added a redacted version for privacy and additional build pics.

    * Photo of the donor vehicle (attached)

@twickes40 Thanks! Appreciate the kind words. Yes, I have full documentation including photos of the build process, receipts for records. Engine and transmission both have been properly maintained. Like most air-cooled classics, it marks its territory with a tiny oil drip here and there.. just its way of saying “I was here.” Totally normal for these engines and part of the charm! 😄
