The SLK55 AMG was introduced in 2004 as the high-performance version of the R171 SLK-Class roadster, equipped with a 5.4L M113 V8 producing 355 HP, a 7-speed automatic transmission, larger brakes, a lowered and stiffened suspension, an AMG body kit, 18” alloy wheels, and an additional oil cooler. This 2005 example is finished in the striking and rarely-seen color of Andradite Green Metallic over a Beige Nappa leather interior, and was first titled in Texas in 2005, before being relocated to Wisconsin in 2008, and was acquired by the seller in 2020 with approximately 58k miles. Now showing around 61k on the odometer, this 2005 SLK55 AMG is being offered at auction by the seller based out of Washington.

The exterior is finished in Andradite Green Metallic (816) and is equipped with an electrohydraulic retractable hardtop. Equipment includes AMG-specific front and rear bumpers, AMG molded side skirts, a rear lip spoiler, front bumper vents, gold AMG-branded brake calipers over cross-drilled rotors, heated power mirrors with integrated turn signals, heated windshield wiper nozzles, projector headlamps, fog lights, and smoked LED tail lights.  The seller notes that the lower portion of the front bumper has been refinished and that rock chips on the front hood have been touched up. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The 18” staggered-width AMG wheels are mounted with Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position tires showing date codes from 2013. An aftermarket front license plate tow hook mount is present.

The interior features heated and 8-way power-adjustable AMG-design sport seats upholstered in Beige Nappa leather, with a matching lower dashboard and door panels, contrasted with a black upper dashboard, center console, and carpeting. Driver’s amenities include an electronically heated rear window, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote keyless entry, an AMG three-spoke leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, full power accessories, electronic cruise control, automatic ambient lighting, rubber-studded brushed aluminum pedals, AMG-branded stainless steel door trim, AMG floor mats, and a 6.5” LCD COMAND infotainment display with navigation connected to a 380-watt Harman Kardon audio system and 6-CD changer. An aftermarket fiberglass wind deflector and the factory wind baffle net are said to be included in the sale.

The SLK55 AMG is powered by a hand-built 5.4L M113 V8 with sequential multipoint fuel injection that produces as much as 355 HP and 376 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by an AMG-enhanced 7-speed automatic transmission, which allows the SLK55 AMG to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 4.9 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 155 MPH. Performance features include 6-piston AMG brake calipers in the front and 4-pistons in the rear, an AMG sport suspension with AMG-calibrated coil springs and shock absorbers, and variable speed-sensitive power steering. Said to have been properly maintained, provided documents show a B service was completed in May of 2021. The seller states that an oil change will be performed prior to delivery of the vehicle.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s books, the original factory first aid kit, and a custom car cover.

@jattilah @jattilah. Was that open or enclosed? Seattle to Philly is a lot more than LA

@DLC I just paid $2,950 to ship a 1979 Corvette coast to coast. But (and this is a *huge* but), it was inoperable. Shippers hate to deal with cars they can't drive on or off a truck. It likely would have been half that otherwise.

I've used Dave Fountain (https://www.fountaintransportservices.com) for years and always felt well taken care of.

@DLC It's got 61K miles, what's a few more? Order tires from Costco to be installed in Olympia, fly in, drive home. Perfect time of year for it.

@Autoverrückt .....probably be double that in today's environment.........No thanks on driving cross country

  • Autoverrückt (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@DLC it’s a safe bet that it wouldn’t be cheap. Two years ago it was about $1200 to bring it here from Wisconsin on an open carrier. It’s the best time of the year to visit the Northwest if you like driving cross country

@rvittori : Of course i will assist in finding and will fully cooperate with the buyer selected shipping company. Bid what you feel is a fair market value for this car. The reserve is very reasonable.

  • rvittori (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

If possible, I'd like to know what the reserve is so I can decide on a proper bid. $5000 is well below fair value for a beautiful car.

  • rvittori (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Will you ship the car, costs paid by the buyer of course? I'm across the country in New England.

  • Autoverrückt (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

I uploaded photos of both front brake and suspension assemblies. Regarding the concern over the age of the tires: Indeed the tires have considerable years under their belts. While there is a good amount of remaining tread, the tires should probably be replaced before next driving season. The upcoming need for tires is reflected in the relatively low auction reserve.

@PetrolPowered , I have heard it called Everest Green, but have never seen that color mentioned on anything official. The build sheet i have just calls it Andradite Green. Andradite is a mineral in the garnet family. The various grilles are black. If you are referring to those three longitudinal pieces on either side of the small grilles near the windshield, those are plastic chrome.

  • PetrolPowered 1 year, 8 monthsago

Super interesting colors...was this the same color as Everest Green in the states? Also, are the grille fins black or green? Can't tell in the photos. Thx

@JayYu So, you saw the radar detector plug. That was an early picture before I thought i had better remove that. The interior switches are in good condition. The screen is good and all functions of the COMMAND system work fine. As I mentioned in the video, this car does not have the “air scarf” option. I will pull the front wheels sometime today to provide a closer look at those underparts.

  • JayYu 1 year, 8 monthsago

Any wears on the interior buttons and switches? Is the screen fully functional? Any discoloration/delamination? Are all the features working properly? Heated seats, air scarf, etc?

  • JayYu 1 year, 8 monthsago

Beautiful color combo on this SLK55! I was wondering what's plugged into the passenger footwell 12V outlet? And the brake caliper refinish in gold is a nice touch, but the AMG sticker with the white background is odd. Looks like you have a QuickJack, you mind taking some time to remove the wheel and take some close up pictures all around 4 calipers to show the finish of the calipers, condition of the suspension bushings please? And seems like the front tires are from 2017 and rear and all the way back in 2013, probably a good idea to replace them.

Let me put this up front. I had to have this car when i saw the color. I has just sold a Boxster, a black, dirt magnet. I ran across this SLK55 while browsing other sports cars. It soon became apparent that this car has goodness well beyond its pretty hue. But i simply do not have enough opportunities to exercise it.
The car was first titled in Texas in March, 2005. That first owner put 708 miles on the car. Owner number two bought the car in Houston in 2005 and kept it until October 2008 putting only 5,639 miles on it. Owner number three brought the SLK to Wisconsin where he cared for it until August 2020 when I took possession at about 58,000 miles. Having put only three thousand or so miles on the car in two years, it’s only right that it goes to someone with more opportunities to appreciate it.
Let's put the imperfections up front. Flaws include scuffs on the driver’s seat left bolster likely caused by seat belt friction. Five tiny pebble chips mar the left front third of the hood. These chips have been touched up. But they are visible on close examination. The described flaws are shown in the tour video. Finally, the lower front bumper has been repaired and repainted at least twice. Because the car sits so low, that lower leading edge of the bumper is often victimized by parking lot curbs. Repainting the lower plastic bumper is almost an annual ritual for some SLK55 owners.
I will try to monitor this site at least twice each day to handle any questions.
