Up for auction is this original painting by automotive artist Stephen Selzler. This mixed-media painting depicts the yellow #59 Porsche 911 RSR, the winner of the 1973 12 Hours of Sebring. Also in the background are a red Porsche 904 and Porsche 906 awaiting transport to Road Atlanta, completing the trio of special guests at a track day event. Measuring 36" x 48" with a depth of 4", this piece was created on stretched cotton canvas with acrylic paint, charcoal, pastel, chalk, pen/ink, spray paint, textural media, and gloss varnish.  Personally, singed and cataloged by the artist, this original painting makes a beautiful addition to any automotive enthusiast's art collection. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.

Hi all, thanks again to all of you for following, bidding, and sharing — and congratulations to the winning bidder, @WIDOMKR !

I've mentioned this before in my other posts, but I'll underscore the sentiment once again: the automotive artists (including myself, Michael Ledwitz, and others) on this site are truly thrilled to serve this community. The machines we collect are beyond just pricey toys or transportation appliances; they're a projection of our personalities, aspirations, and the legacies we wish to leave behind.

That statement surely hyperbolizes the hobby just a bit, but we also know it's a way of life for so many of you. If we help you all feel venerated through our work, then we're doing our jobs. Thanks to each and every one of you for supporting us artists and designers, even if it's just helping us spread our names around. "Hard work wins. You get out of life what you put into it."

Cheers and see you all soon,

    —SS

Hey everyone, we're within the 24-hour stretch of this auction! Thank you all again for your questions, interest, and support. I'll check back in tomorrow once we're within the 2-hour window in case any of you have additional questions for me to answer.

Speaking of, I forgot to mention that there is a picture wire pre-installed on the piece, so all you'll have to do is secure a screw or hanging hook on the wall of your choice, and it'll be ready to hang and enjoy. Additionally, since my canvases have a nice, thick depth, these look tremendous as "leaner" pieces— so I'd encourage you to place this on a console table or other surface where you literally lean it up against a wall at a slight angle. I'd be more than happy to consult with you on the best display method if you need input.

As always, feel free to email me: stephen [at] stephenselzler.com — happy bidding!

@AK9eleven @AtulKhurana Setting Atlanta as an example destination, looks like FedEx Home Delivery comes in at $260, plus about $60 in crating materials. Insurance included!

    *** A note about shipping/handling! ***

Budgeting for shipment of this piece should be fairly straightforward, especially for North American buyers. I ship my canvases ready to hang and enjoy, so it'll be packaged in a fine art crate/box instead of dismounted and rolled in a canvas tube (common for international shipments, requiring re-stretching upon receiving the artwork). Due to the centralized nature of my studio's location— Dallas, Texas —shipping rates around the Lower 48 / Canada / Mexico / et al are pretty evenly balanced. My preference is to ship via FedEx or UPS, but am more than happy to entertain other methods if requested.

For pricing estimates/ballparks of shipping to your area, jump on over to FedEx.com and plug the following information in their Rate & Ship section:

From: Dallas, TX USA — To: (Enter Your City)
    Dimensions: 6"x38"x50"
    Weight: 17 lbs. 0 oz.

A recent example: I did a FedEx Express Saver / Home Delivery service product (the most economical for this size of parcel) to the Northeast for around $300, plus about $60 in packaging/crating materials which includes a reinforced cardboard art box with interior foam corners, sealed soft art bag to protect against moisture, exterior brown craft wrapping for added membrane strength, and fiberglass-reinforced taping to make sure there's no risk of the package coming apart during transport.

I've also done FedEx-friendly wooden crates that are form-fitted to the piece with polyfoam sheets and screwed all together for a tight, hard-edged fit. This will approximately double the price after the added weight, materials, and labor— but another option for collectors who inquire about this method. I've had great success with lite crating and conventional cardboard shipping vessels.

Any other questions regarding shipping? Feel free to email me: stephen [at] stephenselzler.com

    Happy bidding!

Hey everyone, hoping you all enjoy the work and share with your other Porsche-obsessed friends. Just making an introduction for myself in the comments. Feel free to post any questions you have here or shoot me an email: stephen [at] stephenselzler.com

You'll also recognize my work from the 917K piece that sold here on PCarMarket earlier this year, finding its new home in the hands of a grateful owner on the east coast. Check that out here:

Thanks again to you all who have sent notes goading me to offer another piece for auction here at PCM. This is a great community and a refreshing alcove for us Porschephiles. As always, happy bidding!
