Up for auction at no reserve is this 2002 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe presented in Carrara White over a Graphite Grey interior.  Debuted with updated styling and a larger engine for the 2002 model year, this Carrera also comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, Comfort Package, Advanced Technic Package, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), supple leather seats, and 18” light alloy Carrera wheels.  A complete engine rebuild was carried out in 2020 at 84k miles including an IMS bearing upgrade, new clutch and flywheel, new cylinder sleeves, wider bearings, and much more.  Previously listed and sold on PCARMARKET, this Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey with approximately 92k miles showing on the odometer.

This 996 comes finished in nonmetallic Carrara White and rides on factory 18” light alloy Carrera wheels which have been recently powder coated in matte black and fitted with OEM colored Porsche center crests.  These wheels come dressed in Sumitomo HTR Z II tires dated from 2017 in front and 2019 in the rear.  The seller reports a few small paint touch-ups on the front bumper and describes general signs of road-going wear throughout the exterior.  The front windshield cowl has also been recently replaced along with the rear grille wall.  Additional photos are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, you will find a Graphite Grey interior with optional supple leather seats.  The Comfort Package adds power-adjustable seats with lumbar support and driver seat position memory.  The Advanced Technic Package also adds projector-beam Xenon headlights, high-pressure headlight cleaners, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.  An upgraded Alpine radio has been installed with Bluetooth and USB compatibility.  The sunroof headliner was replaced in March of 2021 and a Rennline magnetic phone holder has been equipped as well. Some signs of wear are noted on the driver’s seat and shift knob, and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

Featuring a larger displacement for the 2002 model; year, this 996 Carrera is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine rated at 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque.  Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission which provides a 0-60 time of just under 5 seconds. This example received a complete engine rebuild from Vertex Automotive in 2020 including the following items:

  • IMS bearing replacement
  • New clutch kit and flywheel
  • New cast iron ductile cylinder sleeves
  • New rear main seal housing
  • Wider rod bearings and main bearings
  • New alternator
  • New battery
  • All new fluids and filters

Additionally, new brake rotors and pads were installed in June of 2021 along with the replacement of the A/C compressor.  The last oil change was reportedly carried out in October of 2020.

This sale will include the original owner's manual, toolkit, a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, and a clean title. With its recent refurbishments and rebuilt engine, this 996 is just waiting for a new owner to get behind the wheel and enjoy.

    Hi All,

With just a few hours remaining …
A quick note on bidding here on PCarMarket since there have been stories of new bidders not getting bids in on time. IMPORTANT:

    READ: https://www.pcarmarket.com/faq/
    Sign up: https://www.pcarmarket.com/accounts/signup/?next=/

If you have never bid or registered to bid yet, sign up ASAP because you will have to verify your email address, add a valid credit card, etc. before you can place a bid. All of this will take more than a few minutes.

Also remember, to avoid sniping, bidding in the last two minutes of an auction will extend the auction by another two minutes. The auction ends when two full minutes have elapsed since the highest bid was placed. So, get your bid in early so it actually goes through.

Good luck to all the bidders and I will actively respond to any last-minute questions via the contact seller button or comment below!

@neunelf22 I've taken photos of the engine rebuild invoice, powder coating and other maintenance I've had done on the car. Uploaded, and asked PCarMarket to post to the auction. The wheels were powder coated at a local shop.

  • neunelf22 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Could you include what paperwork you have from the rebuild? How were the wheels painted to black?

@stupendous I purchased the car, at 84,000 miles, and took it to my local trusted indie shop where they checked all of the items listed on the 90,000 mile service. Everything looked fine. I started having a hard time starting after the engine was hot. The crankshaft position sensor was replaced and I've had no trouble since. In October, 2020 they changed the oil at about 87,000 miles, and again performed safety checks.

  • stupendous (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hi. Back again. 90k is a pretty important service I believe. Was that done for the car? The Carfax only goes to about 84k miles? Thanks!

  • Coachmule (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@ronS12 thanks I feel you , I own a beautiful low miles bmw 318i I looked for a long time finally found the right one then the wife said oh yeah but I want this other car so here I am like you selling my bmw. Glwts

  • ronS12 (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Coachmule I didn't intend to own this car a short time. I have my eye on another gem and I need to make room in the garage. I absolutely love this car. Just turning over that engine is a great pleasure.

  • Coachmule (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Can I ask why the quick flip ? No disrespect meant just curious to own a vehicle such a short time. I know for me it usually involves my other half ?

@BReif61 I only have one key.

  • BReif61 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@ronS12 Simple question, but didn’t see it addressed: does the car still have both keys?

  • ronS12 (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @ronS12 That's 5,000 miles, not 5 miles...

  • ronS12 (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@stupendous Regarding anything mechanical foreseen in the next 12 months. Of course anything can happen, but just regular oil changes, either 12 months or 5 miles is all I foresee. She'll be due for an oil change in October or at 93,000 miles.

  • ronS12 (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@stupendous Thanks for the complement on the wheels! This car has spent most of it's life in Florida, unlikely any snow there. With me, all winter she was in the garage with a battery tender.

  • stupendous (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hi. Nice car! Love the black wheels. Has it been driven in snow at all? Anything mechanical that needs attention or will be needing attention in the next 12 months?

  • ronS12 (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@luis.seneriz EPS is European Parts Solutions. Vertex uses parts from that manufacturer in their rebuild process. Since I purchased the car, with this rebuild complete, I've driven nearly 8,000 miles with no engine problems at all. I've taken it on several road trips and would have no issue going on 1,000 mile road trip with it.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Can you tell what EPS is? I have spoken with Vertex since I had a ticking noise in my 3/98 coupe. Anyway my noise was carbon deposits on top of pistons, gone with CRC GDI, but I went thru the whole exercise of finding out costs, who the rebuilders are etc. I even participated in a 4 hour plus webinar with FSI (Jake Raby). Also as the car sits no, would you have any concerns driving it cross country. I drove mine in January all the way from
Winsconsin to Texas 1300 miles in less than 24 hours, awesome road trip.

  • ronS12 (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@luis.seneriz I have very basic paperwork. Vertex uses an EPS kit for the rebuild.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Do you have the paperwork showing the vertex engine rebuild? I’m interested

  • ronS12 (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

    Hi all,

Welcome to my 996.2 2002 911 C2. She's been great and a VERY fun car to drive. I've done a few personalization item, such as the black wheels, but otherwise stock engine and suspension. Any questions you have, I'll be happy to answer, to the best of my knowledge. I hope she finds a caring new home.
