Up for auction at no reserve is this 2003 Mercedes-Benz W463 G500 finished in Everest Green Metallic over a black leather interior. Produced from 1990-2018, the W463 G-Class has become known the world over as one of the most luxurious and capable 4x4s of all time. This 2003 G500 was acquired by the current owner in 2017 at approximately 22k miles and has since received an upgraded front axle, a rebuilt transfer case, a new steering box, new brakes, and much more. Now showing just over 36k miles on the odometer, this G500 is being offered for auction by its second owner out of Massachusetts.

The exterior of this G500 is finished in the rarely seen color of Everest Green Metallic (6816) and features custom bronze and gold pinstriping, a body-colored spare wheel cover with chrome trim, chrome taillight guards, a hitch receiver, headlight washers, chrome-trimmed running boards, and tinted windows. The seller describes the exterior to be in very good condition and notes the undercarriage to have been treated annually with Fluid Film undercoating. Following moderate damage to the front right-side 2019, the vehicle was repaired with a replacement OEM fender, bumper, and headlight. It was also fitted with a new GTR-style front grille as well as updated 2008-model fog lights, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing a “total loss” declared by an insurance company. The original 18” silver alloy wheels are wrapped in Yokohama Geolander H/T tires showing date codes from 2019.

The cabin is upholstered in black leather with burl wood trim on the dashboard, steering wheel, and door panels. Amenities include a power sunroof, cruise control, and heated power-adjustable front seats with memory function. The seller has fitted an Alpine-ILX107 double-din head unit, a reverse camera, a custom rear storage box, and has also replaced the driver’s seat belt, steering wheel airbag, power seat and window regulators, HVAC controls, various switches, inner door handles, and the headlight washer pump.  The seller notes a “transfer case in neutral” message when the transfer case is in high gear, although the system has been checked and found to be in proper working order.

This G500 is powered by an M113 5.0L V8 engine which was factory rated at 292 HP and 336 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission and a full-time all-wheel-drive system with locking front, center, and rear differentials. The seller reports that the vehicle has been maintained according to factory service intervals throughout their ownership. The CARFAX report shows a consistent history of service at Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan up until 2015, and the seller reports to have rebuilt the transfer case, replaced the brakes and brake lines, shocks, drive belt, tensioners, and steering box throughout the course of their ownership.  The front axle has also been upgraded and reinforced using parts from GFG of Germany. This G500 also remains covered by a transferrable Endurance Select Premier Extended Vehicle Coverage Plan until December 2022. Service records are provided for reference in the gallery.

This sale will include owner's manuals, service records, one master key, and a clean title. Offered at no reserve, this G500 presents an opportunity that is not to be missed.

    Congrats! @FDF1

Look forward to connecting soon. You got a good one!

Thanks @pcarmarket and to all the other bidders and watchers!

Great run on this one. This car had some open questions, but I think it looks solid and is a steal at this price. I still think that at this price you could flip it at a profit just on a trade in. @Roadmaster I am in the same boat with a small fleet and an e500 wagon as my daily driver. Above $40k it became harder to justify to my better half ...

If I didn’t have a garage full of cars I would be all over this wagon. I have an e500 wagon with the same bullet proof engine and it’s a machine… and it roars…
I saw this actual truck in the parking lot at a Larz Anderson Musuem lawn event, the seller must live in the Boston area— it looks like a 36k mile vehicle… absolutely mint…and that color is drop dead beautiful.
    Good luck bidders!

Hi all, I have 2 keys for the vehicle. I just realized the ad notes only one. They both are in working order. Please let me know if any more questions come up and I’ll do my best to stay attentive and get them answered before the auction ends. Thanks!

  • Revenant (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Vlad600sel Thank you for the question. I’ve sent a couple potential buyers a redacted copy of the clean title they can use to check with their DMV in addition to highlighting that the Carfax specifically notes the title as having “no problem.” Please feel free to contact me with a direct message for any further questions. Also, I recommend trying to contact your DMV if you’re seriously considering buying the car.

  • Revenant (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Hueston The recent invoice including the alignment was just uploaded to the end of the gallery. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

  • Revenant (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Hueston You’re correct about those mechanical components being replaced during my ownership. Some were done in relation to the accident (radiator for example wasn’t leaking but had a broken plastic mount so I replaced the whole thing), and others were replaced later for isolated problem/maintenance reasons, and my abandoned plan (2 kids later) to build this into a lifted, expedition rig (axle for example). Except for the tire, the invoice from March 2020 mentioning a replacement fuel tank pertains to another car of mine, sorry for the confusion. The G500 has been aligned twice since the accident (immediately after and again more recently) and tracks straight. I don’t have the alignment report on hand as I am already at work this morning but just spoke to my mechanic and he’s going to send me a copy and I will upload it as soon as I get it. Thanks!

  • Hueston 2 years, 6 monthsago

Darned black ice. . .Looking to know if you can share an alignment spec sheet after the Feb 2019 accident if you please. Looks like repairs included a control arm, a tire, steering column, and front axle in addition to the fender, bumper, grill, headlight, and radiator fan. Just really want to know if all repairs by High Line succeeded in a proper fix with no alignment issues. Had a similar accident in my VW and they totalled that car unfortunately. Also, interested in the fuel tank replacement cited in the March 2020 repair invoice posted and what that was about. Thank you and GLWA.

PCarMarket! Thanks for all the bids and comments on my G500 so far!

I just wanted to highlight that the the up to date Carfax in the gallery below notes “no problem” with the title (page 2, table 1) and I believe that is guaranteed by Carfax. As I have said already I have a clean title in hand that was sent to me by the MA RMV after the accident. If anyone has any further questions please feel free to send me a message and I’ll get right back to you. It’s a great vehicle and ready for someone to enjoy.

Also, I have the original grille, stereo and some other extra parts if desired.

    Thanks again!

@Littlehandegan I received the clean title I have after the accident. The car was financed at that time and I didn’t get the title until after I had technically bought the car off my insurance company. At that time I was also told by my insurance company that the title would not be effected by the accident. I remember asking about this specifically when deciding how to deal with the situation. The title I have is clean and without a lien. Thanks for your interest!

  • Revenant (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Littlehandegan Yes, the airbag was replaced with OEM parts from Mercedes.

  • Littlehandegan (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Also was blown airbag replaced with OEM parts by dealer?

  • Littlehandegan (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Autocheck also shows a TITLE BRAND?

The clean title you have on hand, can you confirm the title issue date?

Reason I ask is because Next time it’s registered/titled/sold it will more than likely comes back salvaged (I had this happen)

@rbran As I mentioned in my earlier post I’m away from the G500 until early next week but will do what I can to get those requested videos. Thank you for your interest. It drives like a 36k mile G-wagen should at any speed. I’ve taken it on multiple highway trips in the last 2 years to see family in NY and Maine and have always been happy with the ride.

  • rbran (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@gruvexotics @revenant another driving at highway speeds with view of speedometer and tachometer would also be helpful.

@gruvexotics Here is a quick start up video I have on hand. https://vimeo.com/637958115

I’m away from home this week covering another hospital. The G500 is currently in a car storage facility and I can see if I can get someone there to make another video. If so I’ll post it here when I do. Thanks!

  • gruvexotics (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Possible to send startup and driving videos, including left and right u-turns, and a video of open hood for startup and revs?

  • Revenant (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@utopify I have always kept the G500 in my garage. I have undercoated it yearly with Fluid Film. Any rust in the pictures is just surface corrosion where the factory coating has come off over time. The knuckles were rebuilt in late 2019 when the front axle was replaced and transfer case rebuilt. I have kept it consistently maintained on the factory service intervals in addition to whatever my mechanic has recommended. If you’d like to speak to my mechanic send me a message and I’ll forward his contact info.

  • utopify (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Hello! Just wondering about the history / location and storage of the vehicle over its' life? With so few miles there is quite a bit of rust (albeit surface) on the underside that is pushing the paint/sealant off of the suspension and steering components. Any background on any knuckle service or maintenance? Thank you for providing any history/background on the maintenance and care. Good luck!

  • Revenant (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Paw There’s no significance that I’m aware of but my guess it was the way the pin striper signed his or her work. I’ve always thought it was a cool and unique detail!

  • Paw 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Revenant What is the anchor emblem with red rope matching the pin-striping, what is the significance?

  • kfine (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

What a great color! That photo of the damage with the truck on the lift doesn't look bad. The G is an extremely well built machine. It's unfortunate you had transfer case issues at such low mileage. Mine has 277k and is still going strong on and off road. This is the first I've seen axle reinforcement on a G but have seen Jeeps with mods like this. Best of luck with the sale.

  • Paw 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Revenant Thank you Revenant… let me see how bidding goes ….

  • Revenant (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Paw Honestly, I need the money to invest in a start-up I am pursuing and that’s a much bigger dream I can hopefully make come true. Thanks!

  • Paw 2 years, 6 monthsago

Hello, I am wondering if this is a dream vehicle of yours why are you willing to part with it, especially having done all the work?
Thank you foe your kind attention to this matter.

  • Revenant (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    @Doc18015
Sorry for the delay, I’ve been intending to clarify what you asked about but had a busy evening with work (I’m a trauma surgeon) and didn’t have a chance to do so until now.

I’ve had this g500 for about 4 years and it’s been awesome. It was one of my dream cars when I bought it and I’ve treated it as such. In that mindset, when I had an accident in it on the way to work (black ice swerving to miss a spun out car and hit a guard rail at about 8mph) I wanted to ensure it was perfect once again. When deciding how to deal with the insurance company I opted (they let me choose) to take a payout on the car damage and manage the repairs myself to ensure everything was done at the highest level of quality (I’m a real car guy and wanted the G500 to be exactly like it was before, all new replacement OEM panels, no used parts, some upgrades etc). I only learned when we decided to sell it that this surprisingly was reflected on the carfax as a total loss because I took the payout. The damage was definitely just moderate at the most (front fender, bumper) and the title is clean with no brands. PCarMarket has seen it to confirm as such. It’s an amazing vehicle that shows no signs (physically or on the title) of ever having been in an accident. I’ve put about 5000 miles on it since then. Thanks! Happy to answer any other questions!

  • Doc18015 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

PLEASE CLARIFY: DOES THIS VEHICLE HAVE A "BRANDED TITLE"? Why was "moderate loss "listed in your ad when the insurance wrote "total Loss"? Thanks....very important to clarify as this auto , in Pa. at least, will be very difficult to resell or trade as a branded title auto. It looks very good and is quite unique!
