@Alex20vt I just uploaded a photo of the cylinder head where you can find the words
On my engine it says variocam plus
If that is the word you see on your cylinder head this engine will fit your car

Here is the vin# WP0AA29972S621922 it’s a 2002 C4S. The car is in another town so I can’t get to it. It’s original 2002. I’m buried in this car and dont want to make a mistake

  • VaheA (seller) 2 monthsago

@Alex20vt Also if you loos at your cylinder head right in the side towards the front the words variocam plus should be engraved on the cylinder head
Look at photo 31 and 32 in my listing
If that word appears on your cylinder head this engine will work with your car.
If it says variocam only this engine will not work for n your car

  • VaheA (seller) 2 monthsago

@Alex20vt yes this will work on your car as long you have a variocam
Plus set up with a 7.8DME
The easy way to verify is to be look at your cylinder head you should have two selnoids on each head
I can help with the shipping and put the engine on a palate
But you have to arrange for the shipping and pick up

  • VaheA (seller) 2 monthsago

    This is a M96/03 from a 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera
The engine was rebuilt by Brewster industries in Portland Oregon

  • dglmick10 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

What year and model was this originally run in and who did you acquire it from? Thanks!

  • VaheA (seller) 2 monthsago

Actually I just reviewed the photos and since I installed the flywheel ti get compression tests you can not see the IsmS bearing
I should have the photos soon

  • VaheA (seller) 2 monthsago

The IMS is upgraded and it is a two row LN engineering IMS bearing with a serial
    Number
It should be in one of the photos

  • dmain 2 monthsago

Do we know which IMS upgrade was used if any for the motor ?

  • dmain 2 monthsago

Can you please do a quick borescope test and upload pictures ?

  • VaheA (seller) 2 monthsago

    @G964
The only person novice I have is what I have posted for pistons and rods purchased from Carrillo
The person who rebuild this engine never provided me with any invoices as I asked for them numerous times.
But I can tell you the engine runs strong and has no issues as you can see in the videos of compression test and engine running inside the car.

I have decided to part ways with this little gem of an engine.
Please do not hesitate to contact me on comments board or contact seller if you have any questions.
    A little about this engine
This engine was intended for a project car I built
The project car uses a 2000 Porsche Boxster S platform which originally used a variocam engines
I purchased this engine not knowing that my ECU will not be able to run the engine properly, since this engine has a variocam plus set up
I only found this out after installing the engine.
I was able to run the engine with DME 7.2 Bosch ECU but it did not run properly since this engine needs a Bosch DME 7.8
After doing a bit of research I found out that this engine can be installed in an early Boxster or 911 but you will need to replace the ECU wiring harness The climate control the ABS and the instrument cluster.
Since the project was at its completion painted and the upholstry was done
After thinking about the amount of work and parts involved to make the engine work properly, I opted to remove the engine and l reinstalled the original engine back not my project car.
This engine has only 3-400 miles on it
I drove the car up to 70 miles an hour on the freeway since this is a new engine and I was trying to brake it in but my ECU DME 7.2 would not recognize one of the Cam shaft sensors since they are configured very differently and the car would not pass California emission
The only code I observed was Bank 2 camshaft sensor
After driving the car for 50 miles all the emission equipment would actually get ready but the ECU would through a check engine since it would not see the bank 2 Cam shaft sensor
This I found out is because earlier engines have only one tooth on Cam sensor reluctor wheel and this engine has two smaller teeth and two larger ones.
Now this engine comes with all you see in the photos.
You can drop this engine into a 2007-2008 cayman S or Boxster s and you only need to use your wiring harness and transfer your tandem Oil and vacuum Pump and it will run properly since it has a variocam plus setup.
If you would like to install it in a Porsche 911 2002-2008 obviously you have to transfer your intake manifold and all the wiring harness.
You will also need to transfer the tandem pump since this engine gets its brake booster vacuum from the intake and 2005-2008 Porsche 911 and 2007-2008 Porsche Boxster S and cayman S have a vacuum and oil scavenging pump that is mounted on the location of one of the oil scavenging pumps.
This engine will not need any additional parts except the intake manifold if you want to install it into a 2002-2004 and some 2005 Porsche 996 C4s Porsche 911 since those cars use a vacuum from the intake for the brake booster.
Hope this helps clarifying what this engine is and what kind of cars specifically you can install it in.
    Best of luck.
