Available for auction is a painting by Greg Stirling, featuring the "Porsche 917 #23, winner of 1970 and 1971 Le Mans". This 48" x 30" painting is made from acrylic media on canvas.

The Porsche 917 is a sports prototype race car developed by German manufacturer Porsche to exploit the regulations regarding the construction of 5-liter sports cars. In 1970 it gave Porsche its first overall win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a feat it would repeat in 1971. It would be chiefly responsible for Porsche winning the International Championship for Makes in 1970 and 1971. Power came from a new 4.5-liter air-cooled engine, a combination of two of Porsche's 2.25L flat-6 engines used in previous racing cars. The 'Type 912' engine featured a 180° flat-12 cylinder layout, twin overhead camshafts driven from centrally mounted gears and twin spark plugs fed from two distributors. the original 4.5-liter engine, which had produced around 520 bhp in 1969, had been enlarged from 4.9 liters (600 bhp) to 5 liters and produced a maximum of 630 bhp.

Greg Stirling started painting in 1980. After going through three decades of self-guided exploration in abstract expressionism, the art of the 20th century, and post-war impressionism, he arrived at the door of realism. To continue his area of study, Greg experimented with new techniques, media as well as innovative processes and concepts. Mr. Stirling is also an engineer, kinetic metal sculptor, and automotive enthusiast.

A message from the seller: "I went for a vintage poster look in this painting along with a painterly appearance to the foreground and the cars and impressionistic application to the racetrack background. I think this is one of my best pieces to date. The photos shown on the wall are to scale. A portion of the proceeds from this auction will be donated to the victims of hurricane Ian. Happy Bidding!" Fees for packaging, shipping, and handling is $195, anywhere in the United States. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.
