Available for auction is a Porsche 917/10 TC Turbo GELO-Racing Team George Loos painting by artist DCart. The painting measures 40” x 20” x 1” and is dedicated to George Loos, a unique person and racing driver of one of the most legendary racing cars in the world. The unique piece was finalized with a high-gloss varnish, which both protects the painting and gives it a lustrous shine.

One of the most colorful and polarizing personalities in the golden era of motorsport is Georg Loos from Germany. The construction lion, party stallion, and racing driver of the 1970s - and a Porsche 917 in front of his garage. The legendary 12 cylinders and over 1000 hp strong Porsche 917/10 TC Turbo of Georg Loos' Interserie GELO Racing team from 1973. Porsche chassis number 917/10-017.

Georg Loos was a multi-millionaire property dealer who raced his cars under the “Gelo” banner. As a team owner and driver, he always had the best drivers: Rolf Stommelen, Toine Hezemans, Klaus Ludwig, Derek Bell, and John Fitzpatrick, and won nearly all the important endurance and sports prototype races. He raced Ferrari, Porsche, and McLaren sports cars from 1967 to 1973 before he formed his own team, Gelo Racing. Best known for their Porsche 935 turbos, Loos often flew into races in his own helicopter. Gelo Racing was the only private entrant to win the 1000Ks at the Nuerburgring Nordschleife three times. Georg raced in Interserie, the European equivalent of the Can-Am Series, and in 1972 his McLaren to South America for the Copa Brazil at Interlagos. In 1975 he hired Hezemans to contest the European GT Championship in a Porsche Carrera RSR. The Dutchman scored four podium finishes and earned himself a third place in the Championship and in 1977 Rolf Stommelen won the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (German Racing Championship) or DRM for short, in Loos' Porsche 935. The DRM was so popular that it drew bigger crowds than F1 races at the time and races were held in Belgium, (Zolder) and Holland (Zandvoort) as well as Germany. He withdrew from racing in the mid-1980s amid rumors of financial problems which he denied. With houses in Germany and Switzerland, he has broken all his ties with racing preferring to 'sit in the sun, look at the sea and drink red wine with the locals'.

After clearly winning the sports car and brand world championships in 1970 and 1971 with the Porsche 917, Porsche took on a new challenge. For the CanAm racing series in the USA and Canada, the racing department is developing an open version of the 917, the 917/10. In response to the large-displacement V8 engines of its US competitors, Porsche pioneered the development of racing engines with exhaust turbochargers, long before this technology appeared in Formula 1 in 1977. After the first start of a 1,000 hp 917/10 with a turbo engine on June 11, 1972, in Mosport, Canada, driver George Follmer achieved his first victory on July 9 at Road Atlanta. In total, the Porsche 917/10 with a five-liter turbo engine won six races against US competition in nine starts in 1972. The following year, the 917/10 was also at the start with the turbo engine of the successor model 917/30, which had been enlarged to 5.4 liters and produced 1,150 hp, with which Porsche defended its championship in a superior manner.
