We are pleased to present this Porsche 919 Hybrid Le Mans Prototype 1:1 scale replica. Revealed in 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show, the 919 Hybrid marks Porsche’s return to the highest level of racing in Le Mans since 1998 and would go on to win the World Endurance Championship for three consecutive years between 2015-2017. This 1:1 scale replica is one of only 13 examples built during the initial construction of the endurance race car and was reportedly used as a development study by the Porsche engineers in Germany. It was eventually purchased by a private owner in Asia before being imported to the U.S. as an art piece. One of the very few scale mock-ups to have been sold privately and likely the only in the U.S., this rare 919 Hybrid replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Southern California.
This example sports the distinctive red and white livery that would eventually be used on the #17 919 Hybrid that took second place at the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans. The styling is complete with carbon fiber headlight surrounds, carbon fiber mirrors with pivoting glass, Perspex headlight covers, a windshield wiper, hand-painted tire graphics, and silver-painted wheels that were CNC machined and constructed from a PVC-type material. The LED headlights are functional and are powered by a hidden cord that plugs into a wall socket. The chassis features an integrated dolly with four heavy-duty wheels that allow for easy maneuvering and placement. This fiberglass scale replica measures approximately 15’ long by 6’ wide and only 43” tall, and is believed to weigh over 1000 lbs.
A special custom-built steel-framed crate has been constructed for easy and safe transportation to the next owner's collection (16.5' x 7' x 7’) and will be included along with a bill of sale.
